Question :- Give the character sketch of Alison Porter.

Answer :- Alison Porter is the wife of the protagonist Jimmy Porter. She is a victim of her husband's sarcastic remarks. That is why we sympathize with him. He is one of the characters in the play which is very difficult to understand. He's almost the same age as Jimmy and Cliff. And beautiful long and thin. Alison's character is largely the opposite of Jimmy. She comes from upper middle class family. While Jimmy comes from the working class. Alison considers herself a complete virgin because of her belief in middle-class morality. She is a very calm woman. While Jimmy is always screaming. Alison is a very patient woman. She patiently and calmly endures Jimmy's verbal assault on her. But sometimes his patience pays off. And she tells Jimmy to calm down, Alison and Jimmy's married life is not happy. No couple in the world can be as contradictory in their thinking, nature and tendency as Jimmy and Alison. But both of them have a good couple in terms of sex relationship and balance. Jimmy marries Alison out of vengeance. Alison thinks that someone like Jimmy cannot be happy with Alison. Despite these shortcomings, Alison loves him dearly. She eventually returns to him, despite Jimmy's continued ill-treatment. Another reason behind his return is that after the loss of his child, there is some sweetness in the relationship between the two. And the two start playing the game of bear and squirrel. This game brings some moments of happiness in their married life. Playing the role of fictional characters, they forget about the problems of real life.
